MICA TUBES
We manufacture high temperature mica and mica and fiberglass tubing in square, round, oval or rectangular shapes. They are made without paper starters or finishers and are fully cured to eliminate smoke.

Mica washers are an economical alternative to phenolic custom fabricated parts. We have a wide range of dies for short or long runs. They make excellent insulators and spacers for power grid resistors, inverters and communication equipment.
Mica spacers are an economical alternative to phenolic custom fabricated parts. We have a wide range of dies for short or long runs. They make excellent insulators for power grid resistors, inverters and communication equipment.
Natural mica is the best insulator per unit of thickness. Electronic uses include: semiconductor and transistor insulators, parts for audio equipment, military communications, computers and car ignitions.
A commutator consists of a set of segments, fixed around the part of the circumference of the rotating machine, or the rotor, and a set of spring-loaded brushes fixed to the stationary frame of the machine. MICA Is used to Insulate the rings from extreme heat
Mica bushings are integral to commutators and shaft insulation used in generators, alternators and cartridge heaters. The bushings are convolute wound and tested to guarantee concentricity. Our compositions meet or exceed NEMA specifications.
Our molding plate allows for easy forming into commutator rings, tubes, channels, angles and end caps.
Fully cured segment plate is available in mica paper or mica flake construction. The spring like compressibility maintains the commutator’s stability under centrifugal force during operation.
Offering a complete line of insulating MICA tubing. MICA is a versatile insulator known for its high dielectric rating and customizable qualities. Because of this, MICA products are used in a wide variety of industrial and consumer products. MICA Tubing is readily available in custom sizes unlike glass polyester tubing.
High temperature MICA tubing that comes in square, round, oval or rectangular shapes. Temperature rating from 500 to 550 C. Non brittle construction unlike ceramic which cracks with vibration.
Diameters range from 0.2” to 36” with a uniform thickness from 0.010”. Standard length for round tubing is 36” and square tubing is 25”.
Our tubes meet NEMA standards and are convolute wound to increase strength and minimize seam lengths. Some examples are below on what NEMA grade we manufacture:
Mica washers are an economical alternative to phenolic custom fabricated parts. They can be stamped out of a sheets of MICA in a variety of sizes and specs which gives customers the maximum flexibility to find the part that best fits their application.

Natural mica is the best insulator per unit of thickness. MICA holds up to the heat better on electrical circuits such as transistors, semiconductors and other electrical components.
A basic commutator is a moving part in a rotary electric switch or generator. At Cleveland Mica we make the rings out of mica even the difficult ones. MICA is a better insulator because it holds the heat better than ceramic.
Rings are available in S, V and Z configurations. Fractional horsepower up to 11” sizes are made in one piece. Tight angles, and large sectional rings are available to your dimensional specifications and systems.
Diameters in one-piece construction range from 0.25” to 12” and up to 48” in sectional rings.

Our molding plate allows for easy forming into commutator rings, tubes, channels, angles and end caps.Shellac, epoxy or alkyd vinyl resin bonded flexible plate adds durability and longevity to the field operation of electrical equipment. All are available certified to NEMA and military specifications.
Our mold plate is ‘B’ staged so that you can heat and form at your company location. Flexible mica can be wrapped around tight corners and radii.
Fully cured segment plate is available in mica paper or mica flake construction. The spring like compressibility maintains the commutator’s stability under centrifugal force during operation. While primarily used as commutator insulation to separate and hold copper segments in place, the product is also used to punch washers, rectangles and other parts due to its uniform and close tolerance thickness.
Segment mica is available in muscovite or phlogopite and with three types of binder – shellac, epoxy or alkyd vinyl. Segment Mica is rigid and extremely hard. This type is used for commutator segments and superior insulating washers, gaskets and seals.
Standard Sheet is 36” x 36”
Our sheets have a NEMA grade of 323 meaning MICA between 2-mil polyester films
